PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide useful information related to a user action in relation to user position information. SOLUTION: This information providing system includes a portable terminal and a server. The portable terminal includes a transmitting means for transmitting position information representing its own position to the server in response to an inquiry from the server. The server includes a communication means for making communication with the portable terminal, a storage means for storing schedule information representing a schedule to be carried out by the user of the portable terminal, and a control means which is connected to the communication means and the storage means, generates information about movement for performing the schedule on the basis of the position information received from the portable terminal and the schedule information stored in the storage means and transmitting the information to the portable terminal. The portable terminal further includes a display means for displaying the information on the movement received from the server.
