PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera in which even a user unfamiliar with the operation of a camera can easily set the conditions for photographing an image as desired. SOLUTION: A system controller 26 of this electronic camera lists up and indicates on a color liquid crystal display(LCD) 9 plurality of sample images held by a sample image holding part 33. Then, when any sample image is selected among the displayed sample images by a user, a photographing condition setting part 32 sets the photographing condition which corresponds with the selected sample image. Furthermore, when the set photographing condition is changed, a simulation part 28 simulates the sample image to reflect the changed details and indicates a result on the color liquid crystal display(LCD) 9.
