PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To utilize an arbitrary application by using directory information in a directory server without performing any complicated work on the user side. SOLUTION: A retrieval request/result display part 30 issues a request for the retrieval of directory information stored in a directory data base 12 to a directory service 11, and displays the retrieved results returned from the directory service 11 in a tree structure in order to allow a user to select his or her desired entry information. Moreover, the retrieval request/result display part 30 allows the user to select any of external objects 50 by using an external object registration table 40. The external object selected by the user among the external objects 50 transforms the entry information selected by the user into a data format processable by an external application 60/external service 70, and transfers the converted entry information to the external application 60/external service 70.
