PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize satisfactory running properties and durability and to prevent wear of a head and deterioration of magnetic characteristics by using a lubricant of which adhesion properties and lubrication effect are maintained and in which the generation of a powder falling is prevented, in a magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium is provided with a magnetic layer 3 formed on a non-magnetic substrate 2 and a protective film 4 formed on the magnetic layer 3 and a lubricant layer 5 containing a compound of a bifunctional perfluoropolyether having carboxyl groups at terminals and an amine, expressed by the formula 1 (wherein Rf denotes a perfluoropolyether chain; R1, R2, R3 and R4 are each denotes hydrogen or a hydrocarbon group), is formed on the protective film 4. |
