PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a design time by facilitating structure optimization as to a structure optimizing method for a design system. SOLUTION: A model generated by CAD is divided (c) into meshes, a characteristic value analysis of node coordinate vectors of the model is taken (d), and a characteristic vector is calculated. A design variable determining a candiate for an alteration of a shape is automatically generated (e) from the calculated characteristic vector and the optimization of the structure is analyzed (f) by using the generated design variable. The result of the structure optimization is outputted (g).
