PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head device having a floppy (registered trademark) capable of preventing the interference of gimbal plates and the disk shutter in a floppy disk device. SOLUTION: A 1st magnetic head H1 attached to a head carriage 1 through a gimbal plate 6a in order to record/reproduce information in/from a magnetic recording medium 8 and a 2nd magnetic head H2 attached to a head arm 2 through a gimbal plate 6b are arranged so as to be opposed to each other. The head arm 2 supports the 2nd magnetic head H2 so as to optionally approach/separate to/from the 1st magnetic head H1. The width of the gimbal plates 6a, 6b in the rotational direction of the medium 8 is set up less than the width of the heads H1, H2 in the rotational direction of the medium 8.
