<p>A plunger assembly for use in a glass bottle forming machine permitting quick exchange and self-aligning of a plunger (30) held on a plunger driving piston (41) comprising a plunger (30) having an annular recess, an adapter (50) having a plurality of stepped radial bores (63b) extending from a central bore (60) into an annular groove (62), a plurality of retaining balls (80a), one in each radial bore (63b), a split ring (81) sized to fit in the annular groove (62) and an annular retaining spring (82) for biasing the split ring (81) and retaining balls (80a) in the annular groove (62) in the plunger (30) such the plunger (30) can be snapped into the adapter (50) and held in place during bottle making.</p> |
