Plasmon resonance sensor comprises a light-permeable body (1), especially a glass prism; a metal layer (2) or semiconductor layer with a surface sensitive to molecules to be detected; and a light source for emitting a diverging light bundle through the glass body onto the inner surface of the metal layer and a detector (11). A radiating surface with an expanse of at least 10 micro m is assigned to the light source and a collimation lens (10) is arranged in the radiation path between the glass body and the detector.
