A polyimide film which has a raw film width of 500 mm or more, a thickness of 50 νm or less, a maximum value for MOR-c of 1.35 or less at an arbitrary position thereof, and an elastic modulus in tension of 5.0 Gpa or more; and a method of continuous forming for producing the polyimide film which comprises a step of heating a raw film containing volatile matters wherein, until the raw film is transferred in a heating furnace by the same distance as the film width from its fixed end, the film is not heated to a boiling point of a primary volatile matter when an angle υ between orientation axes of both ends in the film width direction of the raw film takes a positive value, and film is heated to a temperature being 100 ° C or more higher than a boiling point of a primary volatile matter when the angle υ takes a negative value. The polyimide film has a raw film width of 500 mm or more, which is likely to cause a wide variation of properties in the direction of width, and also is improved in the isotropy in the width direction and exhibits more homogenous properties.
|
