The method involves continuously winding the coils of each winding phase repeatedly with a number of groups (61-64) of serial sub-coils (651,..652,..) with the same base winding number and winding a sub-coil per group with an additional number so as to separate the winding consisting of continuously sequential sub-coils between the individual groups and combing the starts and ends of the groups to form a winding start and finish (71,72). Independent claims are also included for the following: a stator winding for an electrical machine.
