PURPOSE: A method for measuring a BER(Bit Error Rate) of a signal using a power with a clock component is provided to measure the error rate of an optical signal in an optical transmission system using an optical amplifier or an electro-optic transmission network by a new method. CONSTITUTION: A clock component of data is extracted from an inputted optical signal, and a clock level is measured and an eye penalty is calculated in a BER calculating device(300). An OSNR(Optical Signal to Noise Ratio) is measured using a general OSNR measuring method in an OSNR measuring device(200). A BER of the optical signal is calculated using the measured eye penalty, the OSNR, and a level of the optical signal in the BER calculating device(300). |
