A block copolymer having at least one polymer block (A) consisting mainly of a-methylstyrene units and at least one polymer block (B) which consists mainly of conjugated diene units and in which at least part of the carbon-carbon double bonds may have been hydrogenated; and a pressure-sensitive adhesive or an adhesive which each contains the block copolymer. The pressure-sensitive adhesive or the adhesive has excellent holding power (cohesive force) at high temperatures.
