PURPOSE: A discharge muffler of hermetic type compressor is provided to reduce discharge noise of working fluid. CONSTITUTION: A discharge muffler(20) includes a case(22); a damping plate(30); and a discharge pipe(40). The case has a muffling space therein. The damping plate divides the muffling space into a first muffling chamber(24) and a second muffling chamber(25) and has a linear damping pipe(32) protrusively formed to fluidically connect the first muffling chamber and the second muffling chamber. The linear damping pipe is formed out of line with the discharge pipe and a connecting hole(8p') taking in compressed working fluid into the muffling space. The discharge pipe transmit working fluid muffled in the case out of the case.
