PURPOSE: To provide an antibacterial agent comprising as the active ingredient highly safe substance(s) having the activity to inhibit proliferating Helicobacter pylori involved in the onset of chronic gastritis and stomach ulcer. CONSTITUTION: This antibacterial agent for Helicobacter pylori is characterized by comprising as the active ingredient at least one substance selected from ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid and metal salts thereof.
