PURPOSE: A method for controlling an oxygen generator is provided to improve oxygen generation performance of the oxygen generator by completely desorbing adsorbed nitrogen of an adsorbent, thereby maintaining adsorption performance of the adsorbent. CONSTITUTION: The method for controlling an oxygen generator comprises a pressurization step of flowing an external air into an adsorption column equipped with an adsorbent adsorbing nitrogen and pressurizing the air using an air pump so as to separate and produce oxygen by adsorbing nitrogen contained in the external air; and a vacuum step of desorbing nitrogen adsorbed on the adsorbent by discharging the air inside the adsorption column into the outside using the air pump, wherein the pressurization step and the vacuum step are repeatedly performed, and the vacuum step is always performed in the initial and finishing steps.
