The centrifugal pump has a housing (12) in which a pump chamber is formed. The chamber contains a vane wheel and a spiral. A cover (38) is fixed on the pump housing and the spiral by fixture devices (90,92). These devices can be removed selectively for the withdrawal of the cover and the spiral from the housing as a unit and also for withdrawal of the cover, leaving the spiral in the chamber. The vane wheel of the pump has an axial inlet and a radial outlet. A dirt pump (10) is involved, which delivers a fluid in which solid material is dispersed. The fixture devices incorporate spiral fixtures accessible from the outside of the cover, in order to withdraw the cover from the spiral.
