PURPOSE: A panel coating apparatus for color CRT is provided to prevent coating defects of panel by reducing vortex flow generated during rotation of CRT and controlling velocity of exhaust air. CONSTITUTION: A panel coating apparatus comprises a vortex flow preventing upper plate(32) installed onto a fixed upper plate(22) so as to reduce the vortex flow generated at the surface to be coated, during rotation of a color CRT(10); and an exhaust hood(37) arranged at an outlet port of an exhaust fan(34), and which allows for a smooth exhaust. A panel coating method is characterized in that the sum air velocity of the velocity of an air blowing by a blower fan(35) and the velocity of the vortex flow generated by the height difference among an air brake plate(33), the vortex flow preventing upper plate and a panel is smaller than or equal to the velocity of air to be exhausted by the exhaust fan.
