Solder contains nanocrystals. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of a solder comprising crushing large crystals or synthesizing the solder from atomic and molecular sub-units. Preferred Features: The nanocrystals have an average diameter of 2.5-100 nm. The scattering of the crystal diameters is low. The crystal diameters have a Gauss distribution in which the standard deviation is less than 20%. The solder is made from Au/Si, Au/Sn, Au/Ge, Sn/Ag or SnAgCu alloy.
