Production of composite elements with a layer structure comprising (i) 2-20 mm metal, (ii) 10-300 mm polyisocyanate-polyaddition product obtained by reacting (a) isocyanates with (b) NCO-reactive compounds and (iii) 2-20 mm metal involves feeding (a) and (b) continuously into the space between (i) and (iii) in a single operation. Independent claims are also included for composite elements obtained by this process and for ships or buildings containing such elements.
