The device comprises a regulating shaft (2) that is movable between a locking position and a release position for the discharge of the handgun (1). The regulating shaft is connected to an operating lock (20) via a separate key (19), such that the turning of the regulating shaft in the lock is achieved via the inserted key. The key head (22) has a first latch element (24) that operates together with a second latch element (25) on the key. The first latch element may be built as a slot in which the second latch element, which is built as a catch, grips the first latch element. The first and second latch elements may lie diametrically opposite one another. The regulating shaft has a weapon section (4) that may be built as clamping slots (3), such that regulating shaft is arranged behind the clamping slots perpendicular to the turning direction (A).
