Process comprises feeding an electrolyte from the outlet of the electrolyzer (1) to a first container (10) which is higher than the second container (11); periodically passing the electrolyte collected in the first container through a first suction line (12) to the second container; and periodically passing the electrolyte collected in the second container through a second suction line (13) to a collecting vessel (3). The outlet ends of each line are above the liquid level of the container arranged underneath. The electrolyte always flows in one or both suction lines or not in a suction line. Preferred Features: The electrolyte is conveyed from the collecting vessel to the second container when no electrolyte flows into either line.
