The invention relates to a substantially cuboid clothes trunk or travel case, comprising a front wall, and in the closed state with a back wall parallel to said front wall and a peripheral wall interlinking said front wall and back wall. The trunk or case further comprises a bottom wall and a cover wall opposite and parallel thereto which is provided with a hinge system (5, 7), the hinge axis of said hinge system extending in parallel to the front wall and the back wall. The travel case is configured by two substantially rigid shells (1, 3) that are hinged about the hinge axis, the front wall or back wall thereof representing respective bottom parts (17). When the travel case is open, the shells (1, 3) are swiveled apart in such a manner that the bottom parts (17) come to rest one on top of the other and the bottom wall is adapted to serve as a support surface (11) of the open travel case. The two shells (1, 3) stably sit one on top of the other and a clothes hanger (19) or a fixture for such a clothes hanger is provided on the upper part of the open travel case and within the shell (3) that is swiveled up. |
