NOVEL GUANOSINE TRIPHOSPHATE (GTP) BINDING PROTEIN-COUPLED RECEPTOR PROTEIN, BG37

By searching for the homology of the amino acid sequences of known G protein-coupled receptor proteins with GenBank, a novel human GPCR gene BG37 is obtained. cDNA containing ORF of this gene is cloned and thus the base sequence is determined. Moreover, novel GPCR BG37 genes originating in mouse and rat are isolated. Use of this novel GPCR makes it possible to screen a ligand, to screen a compound inhibiting the binding to a ligand, and to screen a candidate compound for a drug capable of controlling the signal transduction from a BG37 receptor.
