<p>The invention concerns a method and a device for mounting and dismantling a motor vehicle suspension system (6, 11) comprising a spring (7) combined with a shock absorber (8, 12) adapted to be engaged in a hub carrier, said device comprising means for compressing said suspension system (6, 11). The invention is characterised in that the compression means are designed to act directly on the shock absorber (8, 12), so as to engage or to release the suspension system (6, 11) with or from the hub carrier.
