The vehicle has an i.c. engine capable of operating selectively on a liquid fuel, eg petrol or diesel fuel, and a gaseous fuel, eg compressed natural gas (CNG). The fuels are supplied from underfloor tanks 8, 27 to respective injectors 2, 6 mounted on a common inlet manifold 3. The selection of fuel type is controlled automatically by ECU 4 in response to sensed engine speed and load such that the gaseous fuel is selected when the engine speed and load are indicative of urban/city driving conditions. An on-board compressor 28 may be provided to compress gas from a domestic source. |
