The clamp assembly (10), to secure a workpiece (12), has two bodies (14,16) mounted together in a release fitting to form a workpiece holder (18) between them. The second body has a clamping surface (20) against the workpiece, pressed by a second clamping surface (22) at a third body (24), with an angled surface (26) against the clamping direction (K), to be brought against a complementary angled surface (28) at the first body, to slide along it on a defined path. The third body is pressed laterally across the clamping direction by a setting unit (30), against the first body, which presses against the workpiece. The workpiece clamp assembly has a setting unit as a threaded bolt through the first body to engage a threaded drilling (32) at the third body. The bolt passes through the first body with limited play in the clamping direction, at least in sections. The first and second bodies are held together by a bolt fastener (34), which passes through the first body to engage a threaded drilling (36) at the second body. At least one of the three bodies has a flat or plate shape, or is in a circular ring. At least one of the three bodies is of metal, plastics, or a compound material and the like. At least one of the three bodies has a cladding at least at the clamping surfaces. The second body can be bonded additionally to the workpiece by an adhesive. The second body and the workpiece are coated with a cladding of plastics, rubber, a compound material and the like.
