The invention discloses a new kind of polypeptide-HOMO glutaryl-CoA dehydrogenase 15.51 and polynucleotide encoding said polypeptide and a process for producing said polypeptide by DNA recombinant methods. It also discloses the method of applying the polypeptide for the treatment of various kinds of diseases, such as protein dysbolism associated disease and type I glutaric acid terolemia. Antagonist and the therapeutic use of the polypeptide is also disclosed. In addition, it refers to the use of polynucleotide encoding said HOMO glutaryl- CoA dehydrogenase 15.51.
