Coatings obtained by baking mixtures of (A) 1 part by weight (pt. wt.) ester-free polyol with an OH content of 1-10%, (B) 0.05-1 pt. wt. oxalic acid, (C) 0.2-5 pts. wt. organic solvent and optionally (D) pigments and paint additives at 120-250 deg C for 1-100 minutes on a substrate. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a method for the production of coatings by applying the above mixture (A-D) to a substrate and stoving for 1-100 minutes at 120-250 deg C; and (b) substrates coated by this method.
