PURPOSE: Provided is an aqueous coating composition using a petrochemical waste byproduct, which is excellent in storage stability and workability and gives water-resistance and transparency to coated paper or fiber textiles. CONSTITUTION: The aqueous coating composition comprises 100-150pts.wt. of an oxidized wax, 15-90pts.wt. of an emulsifier, 5-20pts.wt. of a saponifier, 10-30pts.wt. of a stabilizer, and 500-1,500pts.wt. of water, wherein the composition contains the solid content of 10-50wt%. The oxidized wax is produced by oxidizing a compound containing a carbonyl functional group in a low molecular weight polyolefin wax with an average molecular weight of less than 10,000 by an organic peroxide, wherein the compound containing the carbonyl functional group is selected from the group consisting of acetic anhydride, phthalic anhydride, maleic anhydride, succinic anhydride, maleic acid, succinic acid, dibutyl malate, and a mixture thereof. |
