The position of the control element (1) determines the selection of the transmission and a first actuator (4) is used to create a controlling displacement and intermediate gears (3, 6-9) transmit the controlling displacement of the first actuator or to the control element. The intermediate gears have a flexible drive. The control element is a swivel mounted control lever connected to the connecting point of the traction means (3) which can be a steel cable or V-belt.
