PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare an aqueous emulsion of a synthetic bitumen which substantially comprises a transparent synthetic binder containing no asphaltene and a polymer, and permits its use in the manufacture of surface coatings that can be colored, particularly as a colored sealing material including colored sealing topcoats for roof, and for road pavement. SOLUTION: The emulsion substantially comprises a transparent binder and, in some cases, a color pigment, and comprises at least one transparent synthetic binder having a softening point of 30-100 deg.C, i.e., a ball-ring temperature (TBA) as measured according to the standard NF T66-008, at least one compound of a latex group added in an amount of 3-40 wt.% of the emulsion, water, and at least one emulsifier.
