PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering angle sensor whose resolution can be maintained and enhanced by a method wherein a member which extends a magnetic path is arranged on the rear of a Hall IC and a gap to a magnet ring is expanded so as to become a anrrow magnetization pitch. SOLUTION: In the steering angle sensor, the Hall IC 2 in which two Hall elements 2a used to detect magnetism are built is arranged so as to face the magnetization face of the magnet ring 1 which is multipole-magnetized in the axial direction, and a rotation angle and a direction of rotation are detected. A back yoke 3 composed of a magnetic material is installed on the opposite face to the magnet ring in the Hall IC.
