PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel oil for industrial furnaces, having good combustibility and high calorific value and capable of reducing an amount (physical unit of fuel) of fuel consumed and environmental load. SOLUTION: This fuel oil for industrial furnaces has >=0.900 g/mml density at 15 deg.C, <=0.6 wt.% sulfur content, <=0.01 wt.% ash content, neutral reaction, >=60 deg.C flash point, 1.0-5.0 mm2/s dynamic viscosity at 50 deg.C, <=0.3 wt.% residual carbon content of 10% residual oil, >=39,760 kJ/l gloss calorific value and >=23 cetane number and the fuel oil is used for industrial furnaces for reaction or chemical reaction which reduces water of crystallization from a compound having water of crystallization by a two-stage combustion type burner having 5-30% primary air ratio.
