PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IR light absorber which has a light IR light-absorbing ability, exhibits good dispersibility, when compounded with a resin, has a refractive index near to that of the resin, has excellent heat retainability and tranparency, when formed into a film, and has excellent acid resistance and productivity, to provide a resin composition containing the IR light absorber, and to provide an agricultural film. SOLUTION: This IR light absorber characterized by containing a composite hydroxide salt represented by the formula] [Al2Li(1-x)M2+(x+y)(OH)(6+2y)]2(SO4)z1 (CO3)z2(OH)z3.mH2O (I) [M2+ is a divalent metal; (m), (x), (y), (z1), (z2), and (z3) are contained in the ranges of 0<=(m)<5, 0<=(x)<=0.5, 0<=(y)<= 0.5, (z1)>0, (z)>0, (z3)>=0, (z1)+(z2)+(z3)/2=1+(x)] as an active ingredient.
