PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a replacing method for an anchor facilitating the safety work for mounting a head buoy or head wire on the vicinity of the deck of an anchor handling boat. SOLUTION: This method comprises a head buoy catching process for approaching the anchor handling boat 30 to the head buoy 1 and vertically holding the head buoy 1 by a head buoy holding machine 10 having a pressing frame 14 and a receiving frame 15 set on the stem of the anchor handling boat 30, a connecting process for connecting the wire eye 8 of the head buoy 1 caught by the head buoy holding machine 10 to a lifting wire 30d from the anchor handling boat 30, and an anchor lifting process for lifting an anchor 40d by the lifting wire 30d.
