PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer simple in constitution and supporting a platen roller in a rotatable manner. SOLUTION: The printer has main body frames (10 and 40) having a printing head (43), and a cover frame (20) having the platen roller (22). The cover frame is constituted so as to be movable to a mounting position where the printing head and the platen roller cooperate to perform printing while feeding paper, and to a non-mounting position where the platen roller is allowed to retreat from the printing head to form a space for mounting paper. The cover frame has a pair of side plates (201 and 204) having the platen roller shaft (23) of the platen roller and bearing parts (203 and 205) for receiving the platen roller shaft in a rotatable manner, and the bearing parts are formed by bar rings.
