[Class 5 (ii)] A poultry house, coop, or the like comprises one or more compartments A each provided with one or more feeding or drinking troughs F, G, or both, and with means for enabling the eggs laid in the compartment to occupy a collecting position outside the compartment and out of reach of the birds. The compartments A, one for each bird, may be supported in a structure B and comprise an openwork, inclined floor C sloping towards a rail D forming with the floor an egg-collecting tray which may be divided transversely into sections corresponding with the compartments; a water trough F prevents the birds having access to the tray. The compartments also comprise food troughs G and a removable bar H to prevent escape of the birds; the troughs F, G may also be subdivided into sections corresponding with the compartments, or the water trough may be continuous and removable. The trough G for each compartment may comprise two sections, one section being covered by a sliding lid G<1> ; the several lids G<1> may be connected for simultaneous actuation by a cord G<2>, Fig. 5, provided with a counterweight. A removable, droppings-collecting strip T, provided beneath the floor comprises a hessian strip removable from outside the house. Windows K of the substance known under the Registered Trade Mark " Windolite " are provided at the rear of the compartments. Two series of compartments, separated by a central passage, may be provided in a house which may be fitted with electric light and ventilating means. According to the Provisional Specification, an inner ledge may be provided to prevent the poultry from pecking the eggs. |
