PURPOSE: A method for controlling a flow rate of rolling oil is provided which calculates a friction coefficient between rolling rolls of a rolling machine and a material to be rolled during oil rolling in the rolling process, and variably controls an amount of the rolling oil according to the change of the calculated friction coefficient. CONSTITUTION: I a method for controlling a flow rate of a rolling oil in the oil rolling process in which a lubricant prepared by mixing the rolling oil with water is sprayed onto rolling rolls of a rolling machine so as to reduce a friction coefficient between the rolling rolls of the rolling machine and a material to be rolled, the method for controlling the flow rate of the rolling oil by controlling the friction coefficient of the rolling machine comprises the steps of setting an initial amount of the rolling oil and a target friction coefficient(μset) between the rolling rolls of the rolling machine and the material to be rolled(520); measuring thicknesses of the material to be processed at entrance and exit sides of the rolling machine, a rotation speed of rolls(Vr) and a speed of a steel sheet(Vs), and calculating a friction coefficient(μ) between the rolling rolls of the rolling machine and the material to be processed based on each of the measured values(530); comparing the calculated friction coefficient(μ) with the target friction coefficient(μset), and judging whether a lubrication effect exists or not(540); and resetting the target friction coefficient(μset) so as to increase an amount of the rolling oil when the calculated friction coefficient(μ) is greater than the target friction coefficient(μset), and it is judged that a lubrication effect exists(550).
