PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine capable of enhancing the sealing property of a combustion gas without increasing the pressure resistance assuring performance of a sealing member and provide a fuel injector used for it. SOLUTION: A through hole 21 for installing an injector 50 is formed in a cylinder head 20 connected to a cylinder block having a combustion chamber 2 formed. A space part 60 is formed between the cylinder head 20 and the injector 50. The inside of the space part 60 is so pressurized as to be set at half of the maximum pressure of the combustion chamber 2 by utilizing the difference of outside diameters between a flange part 52 and a nozzle part 54 when the injector 50 is mounted to the through hole 21. Accordingly, the first sealing member 55 is pushed in toward the combustion chamber, so that the intrusion of the combustion gas from the sealing part of the first sealing member 55 is prevented even if the pressure of the combustion chamber 2 is increased and the pressure resistance assuring performance of the first sealing member 55 does not need to be increased.
