PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a new external facing material to be fixed to an existing slate plate by means of an existing bolt so as to simply and reliably carry out reforms with a good appearance without reference to the dimensions of an extra length section at the end of the existing bolt even when the existing bolt has a lean, a distortion, etc. SOLUTION: A jig 3 for renewing the external facing material allows the new external facing material 2 to cover the outer surface of the existing slate plate 1. The jig 3 is composed of a plurality of supporting fittings 4, which are arranged in the outer surface of the slate plate 1, and a new external facing substrate material 5 having an external facing material supporting surface 6 for supporting the material 2. The supporting fitting 4 is provided with paired leg parts 10 arranged in valley parts 7 on both sides of the ridge part 8 of the slate plate 1 in such a manner as to straddle the ridge part 8, an insertion locking part 17 inserted for locking into a gap 16 between an existing locknut 15, which is screwed into the end 9a of the existing bolt 9 protruding from the outer surface of the slate plate 1, and a lockwasher 14 for the locknut 15, and an external facing substrate material supporting surface 19 for supporting the material 5.
