PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the rigidity of the outer periphery of a quarter window opening part on a side face of a car body and a center rail mounting part for a slide door. SOLUTION: In a body structure of an automobile constituted such that a recessed cross section part 4 extending horizontally in the longitudinal direction is formed on a quarter outer panel 3 on the side face of the car body and a center rail 6 for guiding a central part in the vertical direction of the slide door is attached into the recessed cross section part 4, the recessed cross section part 4 is formed along an opening lower fringe of the quarter window opening part 2, a lower end fringe 71 of a quarter inner panel 7 is welded to a rear surface of a bottom part 4a of the recessed cross section part 4, and a closed cross section C is formed in an opening lower fringe part.
