PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly perform the automatic setting of roll-shaped paper having labels temporarily bonded thereto at an equal interval with respect to a label printer. SOLUTION: The leading end side of paper 5 is detected by the paper detection sensor S1 provided on the delivery side of the label printer, and the paper 5 is drawn in from the delivery side by drive rollers 1 and 2 to be sent toward the gap between a head 3 and a platen 4 both of which are provided on the side of the discharge port of the label printer and, when the leading end side of the paper 5 is detected by the paper detection sensor S2 arranged between the drive rollers 1 and 2, and the head 3 and the platen 4, the leading end side of the paper 5 is moved by a predetermined distance Y1 from the position of the paper detection sensor S2 by the drive rollers 1 and 2, and subsequently returned to the paper detection sensor S2. When the leading end side of the paper 5 is again detected by the paper detection sensor S2, it is sent out to the gap between the head 3 and the platen 4 by the drive rollers 1 and 2 to confirm the generation of the jamming or slip of the paper.
