PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an element and a device for display which actualize an image display of high quality with small color unevenness and high contrast. SOLUTION: A wall surface which limits a migration area of electrophoretic particles is provided where the density of electric lines of force is relatively low. The contrast when the electrophoretic particles gather at an electrode peripheral part where the density of electric lines of force is high and when is stuck to the wall surface is used for display.
