PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit an efficient heat transfer to a remote place or the like by a method wherein the heat can be transferred efficiently and surely to the remote places of a long distance and a wide range since the heat is transferred through the movement of hydrogen. SOLUTION: Reaction vessels 1a, 2a, receiving hydrogen storage alloys M1, M2, are arranged remotely and the hydrogen storage alloy in the reaction vessel 1a is heated or cooled by a heating means 10 or a cooling means 20 while absorbed heat or radiated heat through the hydrogen storage alloy in the reaction vessel 2a is taken out through heat take-out means 25a, 32, 34 by connecting the reaction vessel 1a to the reaction vessel 2a through a small diametrical hydrogen gas transfer tube 40 upon heating through gas transfer tube switching means 42-49 while the reaction vessels 1a is connected to the reaction vessel 2a by a large diametrical hydrogen gas transfer tube 41 upon cooling through the transfer tube switching means 42-49.
