PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface displacement measuring method in which a surface displacement can be measured easily in a part in which a measuring apparatus is hard to set such as the body surface of an active human or an animal. SOLUTION: In the surface displacement measuring method, the surface displacement measuring apparatus in which a contact rod 3 is attached to the rotation part 2 of a rotation-type small potentiometer 1 is fixed to an object to be measured, the tip of the contact rod is brought into contact with the part to be measured, the relative displacement with reference to the potentiometer of the tip of the contact rod is read out from the output value of the potentiometer through the contact rod which is moved according to the displacement of the object to be measured, and the relative surface displacement of the object to be measured is measured.
