PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographic processing device which is capable of more rapidly discriminating the edges of image frames of image data of photographic films. SOLUTION: This photographic processing device is provided with memory means for storing the image data 26 of the photographic films and edge discriminating means for discriminating the edges of the image frames of the image data 26 of the photographic film stored by the memory means. The edge discriminating means 23 is constituted to discriminate the edges by dividing the image data 26 to a plurality of divided image data 26A, 26B, 26C, 26D and 26E, computing the mean density of a plurality of the image data lining up in one row in the direction corresponding to the transverse direction of the films with respect to the respective arrays to discriminate a plurality of sharply changing density points 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31 large in the differences in the mean density, selecting the continuously lining up sharply changing density points 27 and 31 from respective pieces of the divided image data 26A, 26B, 26C, 26D and 26E and discriminating whether the density of the image data of the respective sharply changing density points 27 and 31 is the density corresponding to the edges or not.
