PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid actual deposition of thrombocytes on healthy vascular walls, constrictions in blood vessels and resultant inhibition of blood flow. SOLUTION: A therapeutic agent comprising alpha-lipoic acid (R,S-thioctic acid in a reduced or an oxidized form, its isolated enantiomers and metabolites in the form of the free acid or salts, esters or amides thereof) is administered. Thereby, adverse effects are slight and values of thrombocyte function are normalized.
