PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interlayer compound formed by intercalating a metallic complex between layers of a layer compound containing vanadium, phosphorus and oxygen as basic components, and to provide a method of manufacturing the intercalation compound. SOLUTION: The interlayer compound contains the metallic complex intercalated between the layers of the layer compound containing vanadium, phosphorus and oxygen as basic components and is manufactured by heating an interlayer compound containing alcohol intercalated in the layers of the layer compound containing vanadium, phosphorus and oxygen as the basic components and the metallic complex in the presence of a solvent.
