PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superior shock absorbing member made of cardboard by preventing a shock absorbing effect from being reduced even if a plurality of cardboard blanks are adhered to each other around an opening where a stored item is to be set. SOLUTION: Sub-blanks B, C are assembled to an opening 8 of a top plate 3 of a main blank A. Margin pieces 14 of the sub-blank B are adhered around the opening 8. A width size 19 of each of exposed portions 18 of the top plate positioned outside the adhered segments 16 is set to be larger than a width size 17 of the adhered segments 16 around the adhered opening.
