PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle obstacle detector capable of determining and reporting attachment of snow to a surface of vibration as an abnormal state utilizing extension of duration of a reverberation vibration of an ultrasonic vibrator which occurs with attachment of snow to the surface of vibration of the ultrasonic vibrator. SOLUTION: A microcomputer 70 calculates duration of the reverberation vibration based on an amplification signal of an amplification circuit 40 after starting a transmission of an ultrasonic wave of the ultrasonic vibrator 10 based on an ambient temperature of the ultrasonic vibrator 10 detected by a temperature sensor 60 when a passenger car is in an environment of lower temperature than 0 deg.C in a winter season, and determines whether snow is attached to the surface of vibration 12 or not based on the duration. If the attachment of snow to the surface of vibration 12 is determined, the abnormal state indicating the attachment of snow to the surface of vibration 12 is displayed on a display 80.
